Change It Now, Holmes.

If you have been waiting for companies to update their products before you change your password then get to stepping. That Heartbleed is making you vulnerable and it's well past time to change.

Mashable has a list of websites affected - newsflash GOOGLE IS ONE OF THEM.

  1. Thanks for the info Charles. Pain in the ass, but better safe than sorry.

    1. True story.

I'd been waiting on changing my passwords until companies started updating. No use in doing it multiple times . . .

    2. I think the worse part about it is updating all the devices and computers to recognize the new passwords. "Baby, why the fuck isn't the blu-ray player working? Shit, password insanity."

    3. Let me tell you a story about password insanity.

My dad had to buy a new wireless router because the old one crapped out after fourteen years of use. So he sets up a password and walks away because it's the wireless and his computer is hooked directly in.

A week later I get a call from him that mom's computer won't hook to the internet and the Wii won't go to Netflix. Off I go up the mountain and sit down to work on the computer. After about twenty minutes I'm able to figure out that the problem is the new secured network and that he hasn't updated any of the passwords.

      "What's the password Dad?"

      "What password?"

I finally got it fixed an hour later.

    4. You're like my wife in that respect. She's an EMT by trade, but she really has a knack for computer stuff. She laughs at me because I've taken a few IT classes in school, and she hasn't, and I get all fuckered up trying to fix things, and she just tells me to step away from the computer slowly, and she'll fix it. What? I'm a graphics geek, we don't IT very good.

    1. I've been surprised by how many people don't know about it.

  3. Problem: If you change your password before the affected servers are fixed, then all that happens is the new passwords are vulnerable. Heartbleed hasn't been fixed yet.

    1. True words. That's why I added the link to the Mashable page so people could figure out what had been fixed and what hadn't.
