Angry Rumblings from Dyvers.

I don't pretend like I have all the answers in life, but there's one I do know. Stop rehashing the same shit you've said a million times. If talking about alignment languages is interesting to you then that's fine, but don't write four fucking posts a month asking if anyone uses the damned things. You don't really fucking care and neither do we

See if you're going to write a series of posts on the nature of Class X in Advanced Dungeons and Dragons then that's cool. Put your own spin on it, compare and contrast it with your favorite popular culture sacred cows; but for the love of god, don't write another "Here's class X, and here's how to make it work for your game!" post. You're doing that already and in a niche field like blogging on Dungeons and Dragons you're rehashing territory that's been fussed over for nearly a decade. Assume that if I'm clicking on your post I already want that class in my games and stop with the bullshit.

  2. This is why I limit myself to just a few blogs, but I'm not a blogger trying to maintain my knowledge levels in the industry. Also, my daughter has been sick all week. She's just now feeling better. Hope your son gets better soon my friend.

God, having your kid sick is the absolute worst. Especially when the doctor says, "This just has to work its way through their system because it's a virus and there is nothing we can do."

"Hope your son gets better soon my friend."

He will. It's mostly allergies with the blanket of pollen that's been unleashed this week. Rain's coming in, so maybe that will help.

    1. No, your post isn't crap. It's doing the right thing by addressing an argument and then positioning your own opinion as a valid alternative. Not at all the sort of mindless rehash that's been pissing me off today.

  6. I see this all the time and it bores me to tears and than some.

Yes, I've talked about Supers gaming repeatedly. Yes, I've talked about what it means to be a hero more than once. I am not perfect.

At the same time, I try to say something new or at least make my message clearer each time, and it's mixed in with discussions about Smurfs, Muppets, Star Trek, non-D&D Fantasy, Ghostbusters and a half dozen other ideas for crying out loud.

When I leave the sanity and comfort of my blog to look out at the vast sea of others, do you know what gaze upon. The 500th f*^$ing post of how to do initiative differently in D&D Basic. WHO THE HELL CARES?!

If you've been playing so long you feel nostalgia for Basic, chances are you've come up with a system more to your liking. Good for you! Chances are also good that those reading your blog are a lot like you and so they ALSO HAVE THEIR OWN SYSTEM ALREADY!

Good grief man! If I see one more blog post lamenting the Bard I am going to beat myself to death with a lute.

Part of the reason why I enjoy reading you so much is because you're always approaching each post in your own way. It makes for a fun experience!

      Looks like I need to change tomorrow's post then . . .

      :D

  7. If there anything more passive-aggressive and lame than bitching about someone else's content and not citing whom you're referring to? Are you refering to Tenkar's Tavern recent blog post?

If it's worthy of your whining, then at least have cajones to call them on it.

    1. "If there anything more passive-aggressive and lame than bitching about someone else's content and not citing whom you're referring to"

I was bitching about the entirety of the hobby cycling through this sort of lame rehashing of "Hey, here's how to make class X important in your games." When I wrote this there were fifteen or twenty of these sort of posts cycling through my reading stream and all of them were terrible and clearly written by authors who were struggling for something to talk about. It was annoying and I was tired of reading that sort of noise.

As for not linking to each of them individually I had no interest in trying to publicly shame them for being unoriginal and trite; however, I did want to express my disdain for this sort of post. So you get what I wrote.

No. That isn't the sort of thing I'm referring to. Erik is asking a question after having listened to a podcast that made him think about the subject. I have no problem with that sort of thing. I ask similar questions here on this blog. What bothers me is when someone asks the same question every week trying to chase the hits they got in the previous post by repetition. I don't think Tenkar was doing that by any means and if I had, I would have told him to stop being boring.
