Last year I started the Best Reads of the Week series to help publicize some of my favorite blogs and to help the community as a whole connect with the best content coming out of the blog-o-sphere. As I was working my way through these blogs, and trying to discover new ones, I found it increasingly frustrating. At the time there weren’t any easy options available for finding great blogs about tabletop gaming. Instead you had to either stumble upon a gaming blog when you played roulette with the random blog search or you had to find someone who had linked a bunch of blogs and read through their list.
For me this was an incredibly dissatisfying way to go about finding gaming blogs. So I went through my blog roll call and started linking each of them, describing what they were about, and providing a snapshot of their current updating schedule. On December 5, 2013 I published the Great Blog Roll Call and opened up the list so that I could add anyone who wanted to join. Since that time I’ve added nearly 148 blog to the original 130 and have continued to add even more for this year’s edition of the Great Blog Roll Call.
This year I’ve changed a few things on the list. I’ve reorganized it to make it easier than ever before to find new blogs, and I’ve added a graveyard for the blogs that were on last year’s list that have been deleted or declared dead by their owners. I’ve expanded and changed many of the descriptions to reflect the current focus of these blogs, and I've changed all updates frequencies to match the blog out puts at this point in the year.
As always, please feel free to link to this list or re-share it because the goal here is to get more people reading these blogs and to see less of them going dark, being abandoned, and being deleted. If you’ve got a blog that you’d like to add to this year’s list please feel free to either e-mail me or leave a comment below!
Otherwise, on with the lists!
Blogging Graveyard
d20 Dark Ages: The archives are still active on this great blog that ended on May 5, 2014. Lots worth mining here.
Aldeboran: There is nothing left but a goodbye for this once great blog.
Here Be Dragons: This blog is completely gone with nothing but a "This website is gone" message.
Huge Ruined Pile: Nothing remains of this blog but the memories.
Joe the Lawyer's Wondrous Musings: I'm shocked to report that this long running blog is gone completely.
Notes on RPGs: This blog has been deleted and it's archives are lost entirely.
Of the 278 blogs on last year's list six blogs ended. All of these blogs
were long term blogs that had active readerships and of the group only d20
Dark Ages moved on because the author was ready to start a new
project.
Numerical Blogs
2 Warps to Neptune: A nostalgic blog that looks back with a fondness for the products and early days of the hobby. An excellent read for anyone who got into the hobby later in life as you’ll find out more about what you missed as a consumer and get to read about the author’s love for all things nerdy from the early days of the hobby.
A
About Bruce Heard and New Stories: This fascinating blog by former TSR author Bruce Heard began as a way for Heard to further expand the world of Mystara for himself and fans of the setting. Since the successful Kickstarter for his World of Calidar setting the blog has moved away from new Mystara content and has instead focused exclusively on his new project. Updates: About three times per month.
Abraxas: While this sadly abandoned blog hasn't been updated in over two years that doesn't prevent it from having some interesting content. You'll find some cool artwork, interesting monsters, and choice bits of narrative to mine for your own games. Updates: Sadly abandoned.
Acorn Afloat, the: This amazing little blog is a reader's dream come true. The author will provide you with fantastic little creatures and spells for your game and then follow it up with some spectacular little setting that will leave you wondering how you can drop it into your game. Then you'll have poetry and the author's own distinctive art filling the pages; and before you've realized it you've spent seven hours on the blog digging through the archives. Well worth reading. Updates: About once a month.
Adventures in Gaming v2: A creative blog that seeks to not only encourage the reader to expand their own creative horizons but to purchase the author's products. Lots of interesting, free content in this blog. Really worth checking out. Updates: About twice a month.
Aeons & Augauries: An expansive blog that tends to find substance in subjects others have abandoned or neglected. It's filled with creative ideas, new ways to examine standard themes, and free content that you'll find it difficult to pass up. Smartly written and always engaging; one of my favorite blogs. Updates: About 15 times a month.
Aeternal Realm of Sylvaeon: A sadly neglected blog from a creative author that has a unique understanding of the hobby and how we should play. There's a lot in the archives of this blog worth exploring as author has wide and varied tastes. Updates: Dark since February 1, 2013
Age of Ravens: If you're looking for a blog with an astute and cunning eye that can distill some of the most nebulous aspects of the hobby down into a palatable form then look no further. Whether the author is discussing the history of Superhero Roleplaying Games or whatever else might capture their interest you're in for a treat. My only complaint is that it does not update enough for my ravenous appetite. Updates: About eleven times a month.
Aggregate Cognizance: One of the best things about this blog is the author's attitude and his ability to expand upon his ideas through the comments after a post's initial publication. It's there that the blog flourishes as the author engages with his audience in a way that few of us can match - and that I personally envy. Great blog! Updates: Eleven times a month.

American Barbarica: A proto-weird blog that centers its activities on creating wild events in the tradition of the weird fantasies found in pulp magazines. The archives can reveal a treasure trove of goodies if you're willing to mine for them. Updates: Essentially a dead blog that no longer updates due to the author creating the blog GIANT EVIL WIZARD.

If you told me that the author was a mad scientist cranking out an army of monstrous warriors I would believe you. Fantastic read. Updates: Dark since January 9, 2014.
And the Sky is Full of Dust: This blog is a wild ride. From encounters designed for the Adventurer Conqueror King System, to free adventures to run your players through, to these fantastic session write-ups that remind me more of a boxing match than a role-playing game. Mesmerized by Sirens: So many blogs talk about being old school yet this blog not only walks the walk, but it actively tries to remind you that while the early days of this hobby were dominated by Dungeons and Dragons it wasn't the only game in town. It's got so much fantastic content that you'll constantly be wishing that you had found out about it sooner. A fantastic read that I've been digging through for over six months and loving every minute of the journey. Updates: Six times a month.

Read this blog, it's outstanding in every way. Updates: Dark since February 22, 2014.

Monster Manual Sewn from Pants: This blog owns its art in the best possible way. Whether the art is the greatest thing you've ever seen or just simply the thing keeping you up at night it owns it all. Frankly I love this blog more for its art then for the words that come from its brilliant author. Great blog to read and view. Updates: Four times a month.
Murky Murky: Role-playing Advice and Fiction I really enjoy this blog as much for the writing style as for the pedantic way that the author drops his vocabulary about like some egotistical shithead telling you all about how they had dinner with such and such celebrity last night. And unlike so many of the great blogs from the OSR movement this one is still putting out great post, after great post. Updates: Nine times a month.
Teleleli: I don't know how many people are aware of this blog but I can honestly tell that it isn't enough. This blog will change how you think about your setting and it will challenge you to up your game in every way imaginable. Really one of the must reads every time it updates. Updates: Fifteen posts a month.
Tenfootpole.org: A cantankerous blog that skewers about 90% of all the products it reviews (and it only reviews). Often the author can be spot on, but there are times when it goes too far. I don't buy a lot, but when I do I check here for the criticisms of the products I'm going to be buying. Updates: Eight times a month.
Tenkar's Tavern: One of the most popular (and active) blogs out there and with good reason. The author is a great guy and helps spur on the OSR movement by constantly engaging his audience and other blog authors. A great read. Updates: 84 posts per month!
Thorn's Chronicle, Daughter of the Ashen Empire: This blog is a great example of what an author can accomplish when they've got a goal for their blog. Great blog for mining the archives and for seeing where it'll go in the future. Updates: Dark since April 20, 2014.
Thoul's Paradise: An OSR blog that will challenge you and make you better for it. The author is smart and writes incredibly well thought out positions. I will not miss an update. Updates: Six times a month.
Toblod's Blog: A blog about the author's passions of MMORPGS and table-top role-playing games. The author is smart and has an engaged reader base that frequently make his short posts even more fun and enjoyable. Lots to peruse in the archives. Updates: 30 times a month.
Tomb of Tedankhamen: If you aren't reading this fantastic OSR blog then you're missing out. Read it and enjoy the hell out of it! Updates: Eleven times a month.
Tower of the Archmage: This blog has a lot to love about it. Great narratives attached to interesting items, creatures, and non-player characters. Great archives, and a continued great output today. I never miss an update. Updates: Twenty-seven times a month.
Tower of Zenopus: A fun blog that limits itself to nothing and covers everything that appeals to the author. Well worth reading. Updates: Twenty-three posts a month.
Treehouse: A blog presented by former Games Workshop employee Baz Stevens. You'll find a lot to like here, not the least of which is Baz's engaging writing style. I have spent a day going through the archives and just loving this blog. I will not miss an update by this blog. Updates: Five posts a month.
Trollish Delver, the: Both a personal blog an clearinghouse for the company of the same name. This blog is consistently putting out interesting articles that will have you peeking into its archives as you look for more from an author you really like. Updates: Nine times a month.
Trollsmyth: A sparsely updated blog that tends to focus on whatever game the author is currently playing. Some good stuff in the archives but not a lot happening lately. Updates: Three posts per month.
Unfrozen Caveman Dice Chucker: Is there an Applebee's in this town? If you can't find something to love about this clever blog then I feel sorry for you as it is a real joy to read. The author has some fantastic thoughts on rules variants and the style of play that they prefer. Fantastic read every time it updates. Updates: Three posts a month.
U
Underworld Kingdom: In this blog you'll find an author who will inspire your galactic dreams and games. Beautiful nebulas, and some great musings on the setting just compliment the author's inventive penchant for great tables. There is so much to mine for your exploration games that you really need to come over and enjoy this blog. Updates: Dark since January 16, 2014.
Unofficial Games: This blog is written by a really great mind. Zzarchov always seems to find a way to put out the sort of content that you hope to find cropping up in your feed. Great archives that I've gotten lost in twice this evening. Updates: Three posts a month.
V
Vaults of Nagoh: A good blog that has sadly stopped updating. Lots of good stuff hiding in the archives that are worth mining through. Updates: Dark since March 11, 2013.
Venger's Old School Gaming Blog: A fun little blog from an author who fears no one. Worth reading if for no other reason than to see where he goes next. Updates: Six updates a month.
Violent Media - Dice and Design: I really enjoy this author's funky art and advice. You'll find a lot to love if you give it a chance. Updates: Five posts per month.
Voices in my Head: An rpg blog that tends to have enough Cybery goodness to send your mind rushing off to invent your own conspiracies and plots for your next game. Look for the regular series Cyber Sunday. Updates: Four posts per month.
W
Wampus County: A clever and inventive blog that mostly focuses on the author's home brewed setting - and what a setting! You'll find a lot to love about this blog. Updates: Three times a month.
Wandering Gamist: While this blog is primarily concerned with the Adventurer Conqueror King System you shouldn't worry about that when it comes to deciding whether to read it or not. The author is smart and most of his writing will serve you well no matter what version of the game you play. I love when the author took their players to task for being a bunch of greedy prigs and I am just digging this entire blog. Really worth reading. Updates: Six times a month.
The Warlock's Homebrew: An OSR blog that moves across the entire gamut of topics that might come up in a Dungeons and Dragons style game; but those are not the entries that hold my attention the most. When the author describes the events of their epic campaign in those fantastic session wrap-ups I find myself utterly enraptured with the thing. Updates: One post this year.
Wasted Lands, the: A blog that is essentially dead. The archives are filled with great stuff and the author can write his rear off. I wish the blog got more attention, but I can't fault a man for living his dream. Updates: Dark since April 12, 2014.
Weird Opera: A fun, meandering blog that tends focus on most everything related to the hobby. Inventive and clever. A good place to start in the archives is Orc Babies and you'll know the tenor of this blog from the get go. Updates: Dark since February 20, 2014.
What a Horrible Night for a Curse: An OSR blog that tends to be a fun and engaging read. You'll find more good here then bad on most any day. Recently the author has been exploring the Mentzer Basic set and the series is well worth the read. Updates: Fifteen posts a month.
Windsor Gaming Resource: While this blog is mostly directed at its local community there is a lot to see here as the author will post reviews, tips, and open invites to bring people to games they've never played before. If you're in the area, you should be following this blog. Updates: Five times a month.
Wine and Savages: This blog has more going on then you can shake a stick at; it's smart and resource heavy. You'll find a lot worth reading and adding to your own campaigns here. Updates: Thirteen posts a month.
Wishful Gaming: I really like this blog. The author is smart and can really write. Do yourself a favor and add this one to your reading pile. Updates: Nine posts a month.
Wombat's Gaming Blog of Iniquity: This blog is everything that you want in a blog. Great writing, smartly done resources, and an author who can crank out fantastic content. Well worth adding to your personal blog roll. Updates: Four posts a month.
Word of Stelios, the: A new experiment by the mind who brought you d20 Dark Ages. This blog is a fun trip and I'm loving the current story, "If I were a Lawnmower." Give this blog a chance and you won't be sorry. Updates: Eleven posts a month.
Worlds Galore: This blog has really blossomed over the last year as the author seems to have found their voice. Really worth reading and can't wait to see where this fantastic blog goes in the future. Updates: Twelve posts a month.
Wraith of Zombie's Blog: This incredibly creative blog will provide you with some fantastic materials that you'll want to put into your own game as soon as possible. Some things to look forward to: a great setting created by the author, wonderfully inventive tables, and a sense of humor that is well placed. Updates: Four posts a month.

No blogs found that begin with the letter X
Y
Yog Blogsoth: This blog has more great monsters and fluff than many other blogs can even hope to have. Loving the archives and lost four hours to them earlier today. Updates: Nine posts a month.
Your Dungeon is Suck: While this blog can really antagonize people by savaging them out in the wilds of the internet, there are times when it not only makes a valid point but launches a pertinent if not profanity laden attack on people the rest of us shy away from attacking. This blog is not work safe and it is not for everybody. Updates: Two times a month. ADULT CONTENT WARNING
Z
Zenopus Archives: One of my favorite blogs. The author is smart, and has an investigative mind that will often turn over stones that you'd otherwise miss entirely. Currently he's exploring the Holmes Basic draft from the original source. A fascinating read for anyone interested in the early history of the hobby. Updates: Six posts per month.
Zombie Cowboy's Game Blog: An interesting blog that tends to have a very strong horror bent. Really a lot of fun to read, and every time I get caught up I wish there was more to read. Updates: Dark since April 9, 2014.
Update schedules: For all updates schedules I totaled all post published this year and divided them by 5 (as I was working on the majority of the project during May). I then rounded up. So if your actual average was 2.6 then I set your number at 3. This was done both for convenience and to reflect the ever changing nature of blog posting.
Active blogs: By comparison to the last roll call list this year's grouping is far more active. Most "Dark" blogs are only out a month from having posted while last year's group would have blogs a year or more out of date. The most obvious reason for this higher level of activity is the upcoming release of Dungeons and Dragons Fifth Edition.
Most all of us are talking about it.

Thank you for including me on the list and the kind words much appreciated !
ReplyDeleteHow could I not include you or say wonderful things about your blog? That thing rocks my friend!
DeleteOne day I hope to have my 'lil seedling of a blog on this list :) http://ilive4crits.blogspot.com Initially it was just a bunch of game recaps/play reports but I'm trying to shift towards playing "differently". For example, my last two write-ups have been how my daughter and I have been running tabletop RPG's in local parks. Hope to have a play in public post soon as well!
ReplyDeleteJust added you my friend!
DeleteWow what a great list!
ReplyDeleteI can offer Dead Cyclops http://deadcyclops.blogspot.com where I post some monsters, magic items, and stuff.
I've also noticed you're missing Rafael Chandler's Necromantic Halfbreed http://necrohalfbreed.blogspot.com
I've added both fantastic blogs! Thank you for letting me know about them Jurgen Mayer!
DeleteThanks! You only made a critical miss on the name! ;) It's Dead Cyclops, not Orc! ^^
DeleteWhoops!
DeleteI've got it fixed. Sorry about that!
Awesome list!
ReplyDeleteThanks Timothy!
DeleteWell done, that is quality tracking.
ReplyDeleteThanks Mark! I hope you can find some great new blogs to follow!
DeleteThanks for including both FATE SF and Everwayan on your list. My newest baby - Fate of Tekumel has been quiet for the last month but there is plenty going on behind the scenes and more to come soon!
ReplyDeleteGot you added my friend!
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteThanks for adding Raging Owlbear. I'm hoping to average posting about twice per week, if I can keep up with that pace... once a week at minimum.
ReplyDeleteIf I've got any advice on how to keep up the posting average it's what Erik Tenkar told me, and it's held true, is that if you think about your posts throughout the day you'll be able to get them written when you get home. It's how I've been able to increase my post count and, I think, the quality as well.
DeleteEither way I look forward to seeing what you've got in the future!
Thanks for the advice!
DeleteI'm also planning to pre-write some (less time sensitive) articles so I can have a backlog to post from (I wish blogspot had content scheduling), but its hard to resist putting all my content out as soon as it leaves my head. I need to pace myself for the lean times. :)
It actually does! On the right hand side of the post screen there is a button that has the word schedule. If you click on it, it has two options, "Automatic" and "Set Date and Time." Click on Set Date and Time and it will give you a calendar and a dropdown list with times in 30 min intervals. All you have to do is click on the date you want to publish and set the time!
DeleteIf there's anything else I can help you with just let me know and I'll do my best to help you.
Rockin'! I'm not sure how I missed out on that... I've only been working with content management systems for the last 15 years. Apparently, I need more experience. :)
DeleteFor what it's worth, you can add in this one: http://redstripeypants.blogspot.com ...usually updates biweekly.
ReplyDeleteI've got you added Jen! You've really got a great blog going and I'm excited to read your next post. Thank you so much for sharing your blog with me!
DeleteMany thanks - and for your kind words! Sadly, there is no such thing as "free time for blogging" when one is self-employed, especially after taking full days off for gaming. ;)
DeleteI also run an RPG blog: http://alexschroeder.ch/wiki/RPG
ReplyDeleteMy apologies Alex! I had you in my draft and I messed up and deleted your entry. You've been put back on the list with an updated description and schedule. Thank you so much for letting me know about the oversight!
DeleteAs always, great job Charles!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jim!
DeleteThanks for all your hard work, but "The Savage AfterWorld" -- called "Strange" After world above -- is not dead. I let the custom URL expire due to some issues with the provider. Still going strong at the default address at http://savageafterworld.blogspot.com/
ReplyDeleteOh thank goodness! I was really upset when I clicked on your blog and it didn't exist (still can't believe I screwed up the name). I've got you added back into the list, with the correct address and name.
DeleteI'm catching up on your archives too since I've missed out on a ton of posts!
I write an article about once a month for www.bluff-check.com
ReplyDeleteI've got Bluff Check added Simon!
DeleteBy the way, you guys are doing really well with it and I can't wait to see what you do in the future with it!
Okay, now that Blogger didn't fuck up on me and not accept the change you are legitimately on there. My apologies for the early miscommunication.
Deletehttp://secretsoftheshadowend.blogspot.com/
ReplyDeleteA mostly Swords & Wizardry blog. :)
I can't believe that I missed you Nathan! I've corrected that mistake and added your fantastic blog to the roll.
DeleteOkay, now that Blogger didn't screw up on me and not accept the change you are legitimately on there. My apologies for the early miscommunication.
DeleteThank you! :)
DeleteThanks so much for your kind words. I don't blog as much as perhaps I should what with other gaming commitments, but Treehouse will definitely get some new furnishings following this!
ReplyDeleteCheers mate. Baz.
I love your blog Baz! Thank you so much for writing it as it's one of my perennial favorites!
Deletehttp://crossplanes.blogspot.com/
ReplyDeleteFocuses on DnD, Labyrinth Lord, 13th Age and cross genre gaming.
Got you added Mark - and I'm really enjoying your blog!
DeleteOkay, now that Blogger didn't eat everything I updated you are legitimately on there. My apologies for the early miscommunication.
DeleteThanks for all your work on this, it's a great service to the community! Thanks for including Once More Unto the Breach! I hope to increase my output of substantive posts as time goes on.
ReplyDeleteAnthony I enjoy the hell out of your blog. Just so long as you're updating I'm happy!
DeleteP.S. There are two blogs with very similar names that you might want to consider for the list: Back to the Keep and A Return to the Keep! Back to the Keep has been around for a while, but A Return to the Keep is relatively new. Both are helmed by good people!
ReplyDeletehttp://backtothekeep.blogspot.com/
http://returntothekeep.blogspot.com/
Thanks for the great suggestions Anthony! I've added both of them to the list this morning!
DeleteOkay, now that Blogger didn't eat everything I updated the blogs are legitimately on there. My apologies for the early miscommunication.
DeleteThis list is so impressive. I can't like it enough.
ReplyDeleteOn a personal note, if you're gonna check out Dan and Sally's Digital Domain, come by on Fridays. That's when Five Things on a Friday comes out, and that's generally the focal point of my blogging week.
Byeond that:
I recap of my triathlon training on Mondays. Tuesdays feature original work, either D&D homebrew or fiction. Lately that's been chapters out of "The Return of Dr. Necropolis". Saturdays are usually a round-up of stuff I see on Twitter. Other days are catch-as-catch-can.
Thanks Dan!
DeleteWow. d20 Dark Ages is at the top of the graveyard list, and you have nice things to say about The Word of Stelios.
ReplyDeleteI really appreciate it. Thanks.
And thank you so much for taking on the task of finding great blogs out there. Because of you I've been following more great blogs than I would have otherwise. Thanks!
I'm hopeful that it helps everyone as much Stelios. That's the whole reason why I've been working so hard on making it!
DeleteMay as well throw mine on the list: http://thehydradm.wordpress.com.
ReplyDeleteThese days I only update it when I think I've got something pretty comprehensive and important worth sharing, so I'm somewhere in the vicinity of .5 updates per month, which is quite rarely. It isn't a dead blog, though.
Over time the topic matter has progressed from sort of D&D specifics a few years ago to broader tabletop game design and GMing related stuff more recently.
I've added your blog to the list. I really hope you update it some more because I enjoyed it quite a bit!
DeleteVery nice work on this list, sir. The RPG blog I read the most is: http://www.realityrefracted.com/ Please add it to your list, if you would. Thanks
ReplyDeleteGreat blog Sean! Thank you so much for sharing it with me!
DeleteGreatly appreciative of Campaign Mastery being included, proud to be part of a vibrant gaming community :)
ReplyDeleteCampaign Mastery is a great blog and I've been enjoying it for a while now. Thank you so much for all your hard work!
DeleteWhat an amazing array of blogs! Thanks for including Moebius Adventures in the list!
ReplyDeleteFitzy thank you so much for Moebius Adventures. It's just a blast to read and I can't say enough good things about it!
DeleteThanks for the inclusion of Casting Shadows, and for giving it such a good recommendation. That made my day~
ReplyDeleteAnother blog you might consider is the Black Campbell (blackcampbell.com) for solid GM advice articles and features on various iterations of Cortex, posts on Ubiquity, and resources for Firefly, HEX, and James Bond 007 among others.
It's my pleasure!
DeleteOh, and I've added the Black Campbell as well! How did you find it? It's outstanding.
My blog at infinitedragons.com doesn't get updated too frequently (once every month or two), but I try to offer meaty updates when I do. Thanks for holding the blogosphere together!
ReplyDeleteAustin your blog is fantastic. I have just loved the hell out of it! Please update it again soon!
DeleteOnce again thank you for posting a fantastic and thorough list. Overtime gets in the way of posting but we're less Dark now!
ReplyDeleteMoney is always a good reason for putting off blogging!
DeleteVery true, but had I gotten off my lazy bum and finished that draft 3 days earlier Differentials could've avoided going Dark since the 29th. C'est la vie!
DeleteI do of course have to thank you for reminding me how the days can slip by when I keep putting a new post off till next week!
Thanks for mentioning Super Galactic Dreadnought again this year. My goal for 2014 is to average at least 10 blog posts a month, so I need to get cracking. To come up with material for my blog, I plan to do a lot more spaceship gaming!
ReplyDeleteI love your spaceship games! Some day I have got to meet up with you at a con and play in one!
DeleteCharles:
ReplyDeleteThank you for doing this. Great job.
Paul
It's my pleasure Paul!
Delete:)
Charles, any chance I could get my blog at https://www.packetlost.net added?
ReplyDeleteDood, you have got to update your blog! I love Shadowrun and your blog is a great place to explore the game!
DeleteKeep up the great work sir (and please update, I really want to read more)!
Wow, awesome. Er, this is my blog, where I write about all kinds of games, and a few other things that interest me.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.departmentv.net
Why haven't I been reading your blog for ever? This thing is fantastic! Thank you so much for letting me know about it!
DeleteThanks for your kind words! And once again, good effort on this collection -- you've done us all a service.
DeleteHey everybody!
ReplyDeleteI'm going to try and add all of these great blogs this weekend (6/13 - 6/15). Sorry for the delay but life has been really hectic lately.
Yer doing fine. If it's a nice weekend where you are, take time to enjoy it!
DeleteCharles,
ReplyDeleteI have a couple more blogs.
Tales of a GM (talesofagm.com) - a mate's blog about storytelling GMs
Lone Cabbage (lonecabbage.me.uk) - my blog about solo roleplaying
Thanks for doing this. I already have a new blog to read and I only skimmed this list (and I still have to check out your blog.)
Kenny the Cabbage
Thank you for your very kind words. I am touched. Really!
ReplyDeleteKelvin your blog is one of the greats in this hobby and I look forward to every time you update! So thank you for all your hard work and effort!
DeleteGreat list - could take a while to go through!
ReplyDeleteAny chance you could add my rpg blog http://www.blackarmada.com to the list?
I am indebted to you for once again including Lost in Time in this staggering list. You're doing us all a great service. Thanks for your efforts!
ReplyDeleteIt's my pleasure!
DeleteWow, I am not sure if I deserve such high praise, but I appreciate it Charles, as well as the introduction to so many good reads. The new workplace is hamstringing me a bit until June, but I hope to get the backlog of ideas turned into posts as summer relaxation.
ReplyDeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteMay I suggest my blog: battreps.blogspot.com
Mostly dedicated to solo gaming.
Thanks.
As always, thanks for the inclusion!
ReplyDeleteI got burned-out a bit after my last Halloween throwdown, but I'm recharged and raring to go!
Someday...someday mine will be on here ;)
ReplyDeleteYou're on there today good sir!
DeleteHey this is a great list and it must have taken hours and hours to put together, thanks, I can see it wasting lots of my time this weekend.
ReplyDeleteWould you consider adding my blog please. ALL WATCHED OVER BY INSANE MACHINES IN SPACE is a blog mostly about my ASE game. It has session reports, houserules, some resources for any campaign and some music. The most recent post is a character class for Paranoia Troubleshooters in D&D.
http://bellasbarandgrillescifantasydnd.blogspot.com/
Thanks
I wonder if my blog might be worth a look? http://almostoldschool.wordpress.com/ I'd at least be interested what other people think of it. Been going over 1-1/2 years but couple long gaps of nothingness crept in when I got a little burned out.
ReplyDeleteGreat blog list! Thanks! If you feel inclined, I run some blogs also:
ReplyDeletewww.nerdomancerofdork.wordpress.com (OSR stuff)
www.adinferi.wordpress.com (Dark fantasy & horror stuff)
www.libermalum.wordpress.com (OpenQuest, Call of Cthulhu and other d100/BRP stuff)
Thanks again
I write about role-playing and board games over at Held Action, if you'd like to add it to the roll call.
ReplyDeleteI was wondering if you'd add me to this list?
ReplyDeletehttp://www.generaltangent.com/blog/
Sorry if this appears twice.
It's still pretty new, but I just set up a blog of my own: http://quasarknight.blogspot.com/
ReplyDeleteRight now it focuses heavily on fantasy RPGs and D&D retroclones, as well as showcasing my homebrew ideas.
Feel free to add me to the roll call.
Giblet Blizzard's been pumping out lots of posts. It ain't dark no more (still weird though).
ReplyDeleteAn excellent list and exactly what I was looking for, dark tidings for my own update schedule now that I have so many more sites to add to the reading list.
ReplyDeleteI would love to get added to the list, http://lairofswordandsorcery.blogspot.ca/
We're new but spunky!
Sorry, late to the party (don't know how I could miss that ...). Anyway, thank you very much for the kind words and for listing me under "D"! Much appreciated :) Now I have to do something about that low rate of updates.
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing (almost intimidating!) how many interesting blogs are out there! A very impressive collection, Charles. This is great work!
And here's a blog I found that has been around for some time now, but mostly kept a very low profile. Anyway, it's OSR and he still posts every now and then:
