Ruminations

This weekend has been a good weekend for me. Let's talk about it.

Saturday

The family and I took the eight hour trip over to see my brother and his wonderful family. Much Mexican food was consumed and my beautiful nieces were a delight. I can't begin to express how wonderful it was to see them again and to listen the youngest one tell me all about how her life had been turned upside down now that she could do handstands.

Long ride back though.

Sunday

Saw a tremendous boost in traffic to the site and got a rather terse note from a young lady about the article Magic the Gathering, D&D, and a Host of Eye Witnesses. She felt like I had violated some social protocol by writing up the conversation and giving it a context that made sense to me. It's unfortunate that she felt that way, but the conversation was in a public forum and had already been reported by EN World in the post, Riddle of the Sphinx: D&D Next; Ex-WotC Employees on the Doomed M:tG RPG Project; and are you STRANGE?. I did not report on a conversation that was held in private confidence nor was it my intention to be disrespectful to any of the people involved. I just wanted context for the EN World conversation, and to think about what was being said in my own way.

We'll leave Sunday there.

Monday

Got the boy immunized and ready for flu season. He did remarkably well considering he isn't even two yet but he did give me one of the best scream faces I've seen to date. Something in between "you did this to me you evil bastard" and "I'll never love you again." Back when my friends first started having kids in 2000 I remember seeing them after immunizations and that look being discussed over and over again. I was always wondering why they found it so funny. Now I know.

It's amazing how wonderful and life changing it is to be a parent.

So, how was your weekends?
