One of the things that seemed to go away from modern illustrations in Dungeons and Dragons was the sense of narrative that once permeated every piece of artwork that was published by the early editions. Erol Otus was at the forefront of that movement and his imaginative illustrations have inspired countless gamers to up their game and to go deeper down the rabbit hole in search of monsters to slay, gold to rescue, and girls to ignore.
