February Artfest: Lolth in Amber by Jeff Dee

Lolth in Amber by Jeff Dee
If you don't love Jeff Dee then I've got nothing for you son because his illustrations are just fantastic. Just look at this piece above! The narrative implied and the motion of the work is outstanding and if nothing else you have to love the breathtaking vision of Lolth that dominates that picture.

Best part is Jeff is currently going through his own works and recreating them one Kickstarter project at a time - and they're worth every penny.

Your thoughts?

  1. Loved his V&V stuff. A lot of his D&D stuff makes the characters look like superheroes, like that flying wizard.

    1. I kind of like that because it's really appropriate when you consider that in the worlds they inhabit they pretty much are.

    1. One of mine too Chris! He's actually on Google+, and he's a pretty nice guy. You should totally look him up.

  3. I love Jeff Dee. His style always struck me as heavily influenced by comic book art, and that is a good thing. I don't think that he's definitive of Old School fantasy RPGs (that would be Trampier), nor of Old School SF RPGs (that would be William H. Keith, Jr.), but his illustrations for Villains & Vigilantes are superior to anyone else who did superhero RPGs (not counting the repurposed art in Marvel Superheroes or DC Heroes), and he did a fine job in his D&D illustrations.
